These may range from very basic investigations like blood tests and x-rays to more in-depth investigations like CT scans, Bone scans or MRI scans.
Please let Mr Mathew know if you are claustrophobic as this may require you to be sent to a specific type of open scanner. As some of these tests involve significant radiation it is important to let us know if you may be pregnant.
Patients with nerve related problems might be sent for nerve conduction studies to better define the pathology.
Occasionally it is difficult to identify the exact source of pain if there is more than one pain generator and in this situation you may be required to undergo a diagnostic injection, sometimes under x-ray or ultrasound control.
